My Life in a Nutshell

This made me laugh. A lot. In fact, I'm still chuckling.

As my lovely almost-4-year-old daughter is in a phase of needing assistance with oh-so-many-things right now (probably because of the impending baby in a few months), I definitely needed this visual humor to keep things in perspective. I love her.

Just playing around with camera settings. Kelley makes us laugh! The girls definitely get their expressiveness from him.

This little one makes us laugh every day with her personality and expressions.

Ok, so maybe I do some silly expressions also. Just thought I'd add this picture to show I exist :)

Sydney discovered "pretties," although she calls them what they are - necklaces and brac-e-lets.

When Seoul isn't in her bed napping like she's supposed to be, I find her in her secret place drawing pictures (under the vanity behind the jewelry box).

Love.

The girls have discovered watching movies and eating popcorn is a very enjoyable pastime. Their favorite are the few Disney movies we have.

This was one of the last few times before the cold, rainy weather came. Sydney alternated between being confident on the slide and refusing to go down.

She is, however, a little daredevil... standing up when she should be sitting.

We got to meet up with Aunt Mindee at the park and had lots of fun.

Story time with Uncle David and Aunt Ashley. The girls enjoy seeing them!

A fun game they play every day is Sydney hanging onto Seoul for dear life as Seoul runs around as fast as she can. They usually collapse in a heap laughing hysterically.

The great discovery: pockets. It was pretty funny how much they loved them. At least it got Seoul to wear jeans for a couple days rather than her much preferred leggings.

Yet again, Sydney being crazy climber girl. Not even sure how she fits her toes in those little spaces to climb up!

Seoul is such a helpful big sister reassuring Sydney as they go down the slides together. Oh, sunshine - what is that?!

scripture study

So for the past year we have been reading the Book of Mormon together as a family. It's only been a handful of times we have missed a night for various reasons. Seoul is very good about reminding us. Sydney likes to pass out the scriptures, including hefting around the giant quad. We gave each of the girls their own Book of Mormon to "follow along" and sometimes they take their turns "reading" to us. In the beginning it was a lot about monsters and scary things according to Seoul. Now they throw in "Nephi" or "Alma" or "Heavenly Father" or "families love each other" - whew! They are getting the message a bit now. We read as part of the bed time routine and sometimes it's only a couple verses and others it is a good amount of verses, depending on how they are paying attention. I'm very glad we can do this as a family and hopefully it instills some good traditions and habits for the family.

dance party!

The girls love to have impromptu dance parties, mostly revolving around Princess music. Kelley usually dances with them as their prince. This day he particularly got into the role and put his suit jacket on to embrace his part. The girls loved it! I thought it was really cute to watch.

Seoul always finds a pretty dress to put on to get into role... with accessories, of course.

Long over due post from Kelley - update

In case you were wondering, we will confirm. 

The BIG news:

Kelley's tummy is getting smaller!! He has been doing Weight Watchers and has lost 21 pounds so far. We are so proud of him! Seoul says she will still love him when he's skinny like a pencil.

It's all about good choices and proportions. There is no way we are completely cutting out Wendy's frosty's - haha!

The OTHER news:

Joo Lin's tummy is getting bigger (at an alarming rate over this past week it seems!) Why, yes, I am pregnant.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween was such a fun affair this year with these two little ones that were so excited! Seoul has been wanting to be Rapunzel for a long time, so her wish was granted. Sydney spontaneously answered with "lady bug" one day, and so that was done as well. We got great use out of the costumes as we attended the many Halloween events lined up.

Event #1: My mom's ward Halloween party. The wig lasted on Seoul for  just a few minutes before she was done. And of course Sydney kept pulling off her headband. Aren't they cute?!

Event #2 - Our ward chili feed and trunk-or-treat. The girls had a lot of fun going from car to car. Sydney learned real quick to say "trick or treat" but was pretty quiet compared to the older kids. Kelley did a bang-up job decorating our trunk and scaring kids with our infamous candy bowl.

Event #3 - Halloween Party at our friend Ellie's house. Lots of activities and games! Seoul had the idea to put flower barrettes in her hair like Rapunzel has flowers in her hair (in lieu of the wig).

Event #4 - Kelley's work. It's tradition to go up to have lunch with him and participate in his office trick-or-treating. Everyone loved the girls... who doesn't? Seoul spoke up. Sydney was a cheeseball! She had everyone laughing because she insisted on carrying multiple packages of candy at once.

Event #5 - downtown Canby. We met up with my mom, Uncle David, and Aunt Mindee for some more festivities. We participated in the costume parade first. Then we went to some business and got candy. The girls loved going to the library for their holiday crafts. They even got to choose a free book! Seoul chose The Velveteen Rabbit and Sydney chose Planes. As we walked, Sydney would call out, "Hurry! Hurry!" and try and clomp faster in her little rain boots.

Event #6 - finally... trick-or-treating Halloween night! We went over to Evan & Dana's house for a yummy soup dinner. Then the kids went trick-or-treating for a bit. We didn't stay out long... surprisingly we didn't see very many others out. The girls were troopers - a lot of walking today! They were pretty excited about all their candy.

This was a very fun holiday! I was pleased with the girls' manners and their enthusiasm! Until next year!

Oh, and I missed selling the candy to the dentist here in Canby. We are still munching on it over a month later... the girls have all but forgotten about it so it's a fun treat every once in a while for them.
