Beautiful Beach Day

This was the day the girls have been looking forward to all year. We’ve had multiple rainy beach trips, but they wanted sun so they could play in the sand! It was the perfect day. We ended up in Lincoln City – ate at Mo’s and just played! The girls tested the water. Again, Sydney wanted in the waves while Seoul ran away from the waves. We tried flying a kite but it wasn’t windy enough. Seoul and Kelley had a good time running around trying to make it stay up.

Children’s Museum

I’ve wanted to take the girls here for a while (yes, call me a slacker for not doing it previously!) so when Kelley had a day off we took the opportunity. I’m very glad we utilized the Canby Cultural Pass for a free admission because it’s pretty expensive. The girls loved it, though, so maybe (?) it would be worth it…?

     

This little lady just slept and ate during our fun adventures. She is starting to smile more… she smiles and has little laughing fits while she snoozes.

So many fun activities: water runs (see pics above), digging, clay, face paint, the vet clinic (a favorite!), special dinosaur exhibit (not so great), and the grocery store.

Our P.I.G.S. Graduate!

Seoul had her first year of preschool, and what a great year it was! I had no idea what I was doing, but Janeece and Adrienne were such neat women to work with. Phillip, Isaac, Grace, and Seoul are a great bunch of kids and got along well together! We all learned so much and have such fun experiences to remember. I loved watching these kids grow from this:

To end the fun year, we had a graduation party - PIGS theme, of course! Adrienne helped the kids make invitations to send to grandparents/family members. So cute!

Then we celebrated in Janeece's beautiful yard - she put together a wonderful party.

The kids recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Articles of Faith 1 & 2 they memorized throughout the year. Smart kids!




Each child then spent a few minutes talking about their favorite things they learned. I was impressed by their memories and had fun remembering working on various projects with them. It was so neat to see their personalities shine.

Our sweet Seoul really opened up this year, but like me, she doesn't like being the center of attention. At least I got her up at the front and eventually she {quietly} talked. Her favorite projects were the volcano, the glitter G, the letter S with the shapes book, the opposites book, and family tree.








We had diplomas and a gift to present to each child. These photo books we put together turned out fantastic! Seoul carried hers around with her for a long time, and still enjoys going through it.

Then on to some tasty PIG-themed goodies! Pigs in a blanket, pork & beans, piggy buns, mini ham pizzas, other yummies... and these adorable cupcakes. Good company, lovely weather, and delicious food - all the elements of a great party!

Of course we have to document these cuties - the first of many graduation experiences for the little one. Yay!

It has been so special to see Seoul grow and develop. I know it was in large part due to these wonderful ladies that lovingly urged her to open up and share her personality. Initially she didn't want to go to preschool (see post here) but then learned to love it and look forward to it every week. I'm amazed at the changes that happened in just 9 short months. We love our Seoul!

My story: unfortunately preschool didn't help me learn to procrastinate less. So for some reason I left all my pages to do at the end. Sweet little Sierra made her debut into the world 3 weeks early so my task list (with this on it) went kaput. I figured out how to use Shutterfly and do my pages the week after she was born... I enjoy doing this type of thing but to learn something new, find the time with a newborn, and feel alert enough to make coherent pages.... this should teach me the lesson of doing everything in a timely fashion! Ya never know what could happen!

P.I.G.S. Preschool recap

So I had the privilege of teaching some wonderful kids this past year. I didn't blog about the days while they happened so here they are in a nutshell:

S is for shadows, silhouettes, and shapes. 

For recess the kids played in the sandbox and on the swings.

T is for turkeys, thank you's, and trains.

F is for fish, fingers, and families.

R is for rain, rainbows, rocks, and rockets.

Q is for quarters, q-tip painting, and question words.

Plus a field trip to Dairy Queen!

Review Day - fun alphabet and counting games! I even threw in the movie: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom for fun :)

U is for underwater art, under/over activity, umbrellas, and United States.

E is for ears, eyes, emotions, exercise, and experiments.

J is for jumping jacks, jack & jill, jelly beans, and jellyfish.

K is for kisses, kites, and kangaroos.

Plus a trip to Burger King for donut holes.

Z is for ZOO!! We love our field trips. 

This was soon after Janeece had her baby Hazel and I had baby Sierra so we brought our helpers :) The kids are so cute in their matching t-shirts!

What a neat bunch of kids! I'm so glad to have had this experience!

My lesson learned: plan more rather than less.

Sydney also loved participating! She was sad when it was at the other houses and she didn't get to participate. I have to say Syd is such a smarty pants... she was trying real hard to catch up with the other kids in knowing letters and sounds.
