Halloween Festivities

This year we had a princess theme. Seoul chose to be Ariel, The Little Mermaid, again. She chose our Belle costume for Sydney. Our two princesses... how fitting!

Pumpkin Patch
We went to the Flower Farmer for play group one day. We rode the train, played on the hay maze, and looked at some animals. Seoul didn't so much like the hay until she saw Sydney had no problem with it. In fact, I couldn't get Sydney to look up because she was so fascinated. Good times!

Pumpkin Carving
I haven't carved a pumpkin in years and it didn't take long at all. Seoul helped choose the face from the various Halloween stories we've read. She helped dig out the innards with a spoon for a while and helped carve a couple lines, but it was hard for her. Then she colored our little pumpkin... made a face... then added some embellishments (which eventually covered the face). Fun times!

Ward Party / Trunk or Treat
There was a chili & cornbread feed. Then the highly anticipated trunk or treat. Unfortunately it was raining, but that didn't deter the kids at all. My brother, David, decorated his trunk. Kelley added his favorite touch - the crow pecking out the baby's eye. Aunt Dana and cousin Ella came to trunk or treat with Seoul & Sydney.

Haunted House
Our friends host this fantastic haunted house. I heard the hype from previous years, and it lived up to expectations! They get looong lines, so fortunately we didn't have to wait a long time since the girls were inside playing while they waited for us. (Just had to wait behind some screaming teenage girls - oh the craziness.)

Kelley's Work - Trick or Treating
Every year we go visit Kelley at work - they host trick or treating for little kids (a day care and employee's kids). It's fun and Kelley gets to show off the girls. This year Seoul had so much fun wearing her costume and saying "Trick or Treat!" (and "thank you!"). She definitely knows what she wants... when we would pause to visit she would say, "let's get more candy!" We also got to see our friends and their little guy - so cute!

Downtown Canby - Trick or Treating
We participated in the community trick or treating event with my mom and sister, and it was fun! Crazy how many kids participate. Unfortunately it poured for part of the experience but ended with a beautiful rainbow. Thus, the picture with the coats covering the girls' costumes. Seoul's favorite thing she got was a Capri Sun. They even had an Alice in Wonderland "haunted house" for kids but Seoul refused to go in. She did consent to take a photo, though.

Halloween Night - Trick or Treating
Seoul excitedly awaited Kelley coming home from work so we could go trick or treating yet again. We visited our next-door friends, my mom, and then some houses in a nearby neighborhood. It is truly nuts how many kids are out and about but it is fun to see the cute costumes. (I will refrain from commenting on the rude kids.) Seoul loved toodling around in her mermaid costume getting candy, although she held onto her choice favorites the entire time. Soon enough she said she was done and asked to go home. The girls got PLENTY of candy (with all the trick or treating events)!!

We did get a few trick or treaters at our house the various times we were home. Such a great holiday!

Both of your princesses looked so cute! I love Sydney's scrunched up face. Your pumpkins turned out great. We were bummed that we didn't get to carving pumpkins this year OR going to downtown trick or treating. Looks like you had a fun Halloween.
