So, so hot on this day.
In the morning we went to a Civil War Re-enactment at the invitation from my mom. We thought it would be interesting. The girls thought it was neat, and were surprisingly OK with the loud noises. Sierra slept through it… that’s how exciting it was. However, we were a bit thrown by the results. The re-enactment ended with the Confederates winning it. What?! Afterward we walked around a bit. The girls loved petting the horses. (I know the pictures are blurry but I just have to document Seoul touching an animal!) It was blazing hot and we wanted to get back to the General Canby Days parade so we had a treat of shaved ice and then left. It was fun to spend time with my mom and experience something new.
We love General Canby Days. A small parade (with candy, of course!), the feeling of community, seeing people we know. We really do enjoy living in Canby and participating in the community events. Mater is always a hit!
That evening our friends invited us to watch fireworks. They have a good view from their driveway. The best part was their next door neighbor set up a bajillion fireworks in their driveway (literally covering the area) and set them all off at one time – what a show! We opened up the back of the car and the kids had fun sitting there together. Such a difference from last year – Seoul was terrified and Sydney slept through it. Good times oohing and aaahing with friends!
Happy Independence Day! We love this country and the freedoms we have, our family and traditions.
